2021 Club Outreach

Swift Creek YMCA Bright Beginnings Shopping

Bright Beginnings is a program at the YMCA where they pair kids and role model adults to have a shopping experience together.  Each child will leave the evening with new clothes and a backpack ready to start the new school year. (August)

World Polio Day
World Polio Day was October 24. The club educates the community on polio. We were able to explain that every $.25 that they donated equaled one dose of vaccine to prevent polio from getting a foothold in our eradication zones. Many people have never heard of polio, so it gave us a chance to do a little teaching as well. Our Interact Clubs also have Purple Pinkie days in conjunction with World Polio Day.

Richmond Friends of the Homeless

Our club provides the meal and serving support for the Friends of The Homeless each month that has a fifth Tuesday.  The Friends of the Homeless provides meals daily at the Broomfield Christian Methodist Church, 609 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Richmond, VA.

Our club is scheduled to provide meal and serving support on the following dates:

Meals on Wheels

Our club provides an individual to deliver Chesterfield Route 1 for Meals on Wheels every 2nd Friday of each month.  Pick up location is Central Baptist Church, 1500 Courthouse Rd.  This entails delivering anywhere from 5-12 meals to individuals confined to their home along a route on Rt.360 from Courthouse to the western edge of the county.  A list of clients and directions to each house is provided.

Highway Pick Up
Highway pick up allows us to keep our little corner of Chesterfield clean. We meet every other month on Saturday morning to spend about an hour picking trash and debris on Charter Colony parkway between Genito and St Francis Hospital. You would be surprised at what you might find. Every so often we even have a contest about who found the strangest thing and even make up a story to explain it…if it can be explained. Then we meet for coffee, bagels and fellowship.

Christmas Mother
We provide presents to families in need of the basics. We search out people that are not in the system and struggling to make ends meet.

McGuire Veterans Thanksgiving Meal

Each year the club provides and serves lunch to the patients, visitors and staff in the Poly Trauma unit at the McGuire VA Medical Center. (annual)
